Luis Urueta, the manager of the Aguilas Cibaenas, will be away from his club this week.

The native of Barranquilla, Colombia is headed to Houston, where he'll be meeting with Houston Astros executives to interview for the manager's job, MLB.com's Jon Morosi reported late Tuesday.

Urueta, 45, is the Texas Rangers bench coach during the MLB season and is in his first season as a manager in LIDOM, where his Aguilas are off to a 4-9 start in the 50-game regular season. He previously managed the AZL Diamondbacks in the Arizona Complex League in 2013 and 2014, compiling a 58-54 record.

Moore Returns For More In Santiago - Philadelphia Phillies infield prospect Robert Moore is returning to the Aguilas Cibaenas this week. Moore, 24, went 8-for-36 in 11 games with the Aguilas last winter, and appeared in 85 games for Triple-A Lehigh Valley last summer, slashing .226/.321/.467 with 15 homers and 47 RBIs.

Humberto Mejia Joins Licey - Panamanian righty Humberto Mejia has joined the Tigres del Licey, returning to LIDOM four years removed from posting a stellar season with the Leones del Escogido in 2022-23.

“Mejía is a controlled pitcher who can start and relieve. He is a highly adaptable pitcher with experience in LIDOM and the second-best league in the world, and he is ready to help us achieve our goal,” said Audo Vicente, vice president of baseball operations for the Tigres in the team's press release announcing the move.

In the 2022-23 season, the righty was a candidate for the league's Pitcher of the Year award, throwing 50 1/3 innings for Escogido with a 2.15 ERA, a 1.050 WHIP, 45 strikeouts and just three walks.

That performance earned him a contract with the Chunichi Dragons of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball, where he's pitched the last four seasons, making 66 appearances in Japan's top league, throwing 182 2/3 innings with a 3.70 ERA, 112 strikeouts, and 60 walks.

He's represented Panama in the 2016 and 2022 World Baseball Classic qualifiers, the 2023 and 2026 World Baseball Classics, and the 2026 Caribbean Series.

Gigantes del Cibao Add Three Arms - Three young Dominican pitchers who made their Major League Baseball debuts this past season have been added to the Gigantes del Cibao bullpen.

Yovanny Cruz, Miguel Ullola, and Alimber Santa will join the team this week and be available to pitch on Friday or Saturday.

Cruz, 27, made his MLB debut for the New York Yankees on May 20, throwing two innings and striking out three in a 2-1 loss to Toronto. He threw 18 2/3 innings with the Gigantes last winter, posting a 0.48 ERA in 15 appearances with five saves.

Ullola, 24, threw 16 2/3 innings in 11 appearances with the Houston Astros with a 2.16 ERA, 16 strikeouts, and five walks. This will be his first season in winter ball.

Santa, 23, made 10 appearances with the Astros, throwing 15 1/3 innings with a 1.17 ERA, nine strikeouts, and six walks. He has not previously appeared in winter ball.
