Mayagüez at Carolina. Martín Maldonado, fifteen years a big-league catcher, manages his first professional game. Joe Jiménez, a former All-Star reliever who has thrown 2 2/3 innings since October 2024, is on Carolina’s roster for opening week. Abraham Toro, who reached the WBC quarterfinals with Canada in March, is in the Mayagüez lineup alongside Edwin Ríos and Jorge López.

Carolina also carries three Japanese pitchers — Keishin Nagamizu, Kaito Uchino and Yusei Tobita — part of ten East Asian players spread across five of the six clubs this winter.
