Alfredo Duno, the No. 1 prospect in the Cincinnati Reds organization according to MLB Pipeline, is in camp with the Leones del Caracas in his native Venezuela in advance of the Liga Venezolana de Beisbol Profesional season.
Duno, 20, signed with the Reds as an international free agent in January 2023 for $3.1 million and has quickly risen to Double-A Chattanooga, where he appeared in 36 games this season, slashing .322/.406/.488 in 138 plate appearances with three homers and 14 RBIs.
He began the season with High-A Dayton of the Midwest League, batting .260/.390/.512 while displaying a lot of power, hitting 16 homers in 242 at-bats and driving in 47 runs before being promoted to Double-A on June 30. He caught the first four innings of the 2026 All-Star Futures game for the National League and finished the game as the designated hitter, going 0-for-2.
At both High-A and Double-A, Duno's on-base percentage was above the league average. He's MLB Pipeline's No. 20 ranked prospect overall. He'll make his LVBP debut this winter with the Leones, though it remains unknown how many games he will play in Caracas.

Rarely have highly-ranked prospects like Duno made appearances in the LVBP in recent years. For example, Ronald Acuna Jr. had already played parts of four seasons in Major League Baseball with the Atlanta Braves before making his LVBP debut with the Tiburones de La Guaira in 2022-23, and his brother Luisangel Acuna had already made his MLB debut with the New York Mets before playing 29 games with the Cardenales de Lara in the 2024-25 season.
Because of his status as a top prospect, it's unlikely that Duno will play more than a handful of games, though the Reds may let him see a little more playing time with the Leones so he can get some extra at-bats after missing three weeks in August with a right hamstring strain.
The Leones' season begins on Tuesday, Oct. 13, when they travel to Maracaibo to face the Aguilas del Zulia.
All LVBP games are streamed live on BeisbolPlay with a subscription.
