The Liga Mexicana del Pacifico announced a multi-year strategic partnership with Banamex, one of Mexico's largest banks, along with several rules changes for the upcoming season in a presentation on the league's YouTube channel on Tuesday night.

“We are beginning a new era without losing the essence that has defined us for decades,” stated Salvador Escobar, President of the Liga Mexicana del Pacifico in a league press release announcing the deal.

The partnership will give Banamex a strong brand presence with all 10 LMP teams, their stadiums, and the league's umpire staff. Banamex customers will have access to tickets via the presale for the 2027 Caribbean Series in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.

"Baseball has the power to unite communities, inspire new generations, and create memorable moments for Mexican families. That's why we are so excited to become a strategic partner of the Liga Mexicana del Pacifico,” said Sinead O'Connor, the Director of Consumer Banking at Banamex in the league's press release. "At Banamex, we believe in promoting what unites us as a country and supporting platforms that generate pride, identity, and development in the regions where we operate. This long-term agreement will allow us to have a significant presence throughout the League, connect with millions of fans, and create new experiences."

In the release announcing the partnership with Banamex, the LMP also announced that it will add the Automatic Ball/Strike Challenge and a pitch clock to the rules for the 2026 season.

Off the field, the LMP also announced its intention to build stronger relationships with the league's sponsors and "take a decisive step toward the United States, identifying priority cities and communities to expand the reach of Mexican winter baseball beyond the border."
