Taking The Fifth - Tuesday's combined no-hitter by Licey was the 12th no-hitter in the history of LIDOM and the fifth by the Tigres del Licey.
Diómedes “Guayubín” Olivo pitched the first no-hitter in the history of both the league and the Tigres on May 29, 1954 against their capital city rival Leones del Escogido. On Nov. 22, 1991, Dennis Springer threw the second against the Estrellas Orientales in a game that ended 1–0 at Estadio Tetelo Vargas in San Pedro de Macoris.
Ervin Santana, Dámaso Marte, and Carlos Mármol combined to pitch the first no-hitter in postseason history — and the third for the Tigres — on Jan. 14, 2008 in a 3–0 victory over the Estrellas Orientales, which sent Licey to the championship series.
Lisalverto Bonilla, Elniery García, Arodys Vizcaíno, JC Mejia, and Jairo Asencio combined to accomplish the same feat on Nov. 1, 2022, in a 2–0 win against the Toros del Este, also at Estadio Francisco Micheli in La Romana.
A Historic Feat For JC Mejia - Licey closer JC Mejía made history as the first pitcher to participate in two no-hitters in LIDOM. In the Tigres' Oct. 21 no-hitter against the Toros del Este, Livey used seven pitchers, the most ever used by a team in a no-hitter, with Mejia coming on for the fifth.
First Big Blast of the Year - Gigantes del Cibao power hitter Marcel Ozuna smacked the first grand slam of the 2026-27 season. His blast capped a nine-run eighth inning against the Leones del Escogido in Cibao's 14-9 win on Oct. 21.
Estrellas Swinging Hot Bats - Three Estrellas hold the top three spots in the chase for the batting title. Ismail Munguia, who split the 2026 season between three levels of the Toronto Blue Jays organization after batting .429 for Nicaragua in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, has gone 11-for-23 in his first six games to lead the league with a .478 average, while Oscar Gonzalez (9-for-20, .450) and Harold Ramirez (13-for-32, .406) are close behind. Munguia finished second in hitting in LIDOM last year, going 50-for-168 in 38 games for a .368 average.
