Former Notre Dame baseball player Drayk Bowen is in the middle of his senior season playing football. He is a linebacker for the Fighting Irish football team.

In two games this season against Wisconsin and Rice, Bowen has 11 total tackles. He had a big game against the Wisconsin Badgers at Lambeau Field on September 6, where he had nine out of his 11 tackles this season.

Bowen and his baseball career with Notre Dame

Bowen was a part of the Notre Dame baseball team during the 2023 and 2024 seasons, which were his freshman and sophomore years.

He did not play in a game for the Fighting Irish during his freshman season in 2023.

In 2024, as a sophomore, Bowen scored two runs as a pinch runner. His first run came in a game early in the 2024 college baseball season against Rice. His second run came shortly after against Tennessee Tech.

Bowen appeared in a third game during the 2024 season. He had an at-bat in a 10-3 win for the Fighting Irish agaisnt Radford, where he struck out.

Leaving baseball and the rest of Bowen's football career with the Irish

In January 2025, Bowen announced that he was leaving the Notre Dame baseball program to focus on football full-time.

During that time, the Fighting Irish were in the middle of a deep run in the College Football Playoff. Notre Dame knocked off Indiana, Georgia, and Penn State to make it to the national championship. The Fighting Irish lost in that national championship to the Ohio State Buckeyes, 34-23.

Despite the season ending a game short, Bowen had his best football season for the Fighting Irish that year. During the 2024-25 college football season, the Notre Dame linebacker had 78 total tackles and forced three fumbles. One of those forced fumbles came in the 2025 national championship game against Ohio State.

Bowen also recorded the first sack of his career during the 2024-25 season against the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks.

During the next season in 2025, Bowen improved his ability to get sacks. He had 3.5 sacks that season, which was his junior year. Those sacks came in games against Boise State, Boston College, Syracuse, and Stanford.

Bowen also finished with 67 total tackles, four pass break-ups, and four passes defended during his junior season.
