Carson Brumbaugh transferred to Oklahoma to play for the Sooners during the 2027 college baseball season. In 2026, while Oklahoma won the national championship, Brumbaugh spent his freshman season playing for the Arkansas Razorbacks.
The freshman had seven hits; three of them were doubles. Brumbaugh also finished with two RBIs. He was also able to pitch on the mound for the Razorbacks a little last season. In 1 2/3 innings, he had a strikeout and allowed one earned run.
Brumbaugh's one strikeout came against the Georgia Bulldogs on April 18. He had a multi-hit day against UT Arlington on March 1.
There could possibly be some two-way ability present in Brumbaugh's game. The Oklahoma Sooners have him listed as an infielder and right-handed pitcher on their 2027 baseball roster.
Before his freshman season with Arkansas, Brumbaugh was the number three high school baseball player from Oklahoma in the 2025 class. He played for Edmond Santa Fe High School, which is just north of Oklahoma City and about 40 minutes away from Norman.
After a season with limited appearances, Brumbaugh is heading to his home state to help the Sooners defend their national title next season.
Following in his brother's footsteps
The Oklahoma Sooners are familiar with the Brumbaugh name. Carson's older brother, Cayden Brumbaugh, played for Oklahoma during the 2026 national championship season.
During that year, Cayden had five hits in 13 at-bats with three RBIs. Two of his hits were doubles. Cayden had two multi-hit games in 2026 against Coppin State and New Mexico State.
The 2026 season with Oklahoma was his senior season. Before that year, Cayden spent some time playing for the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Nebraska Cornhuskers.
A family connection and a return to the home state make Carson Brumbaugh's transfer decision to go to Oklahoma an intriguing one to look into. He will look to have a breakout sophomore season with the Sooners in 2027.
