When you come for the king, you'd better not miss.

Unfortunately for the Olmecas de Tabasco, they couldn't touch Tijuana David "The King" Reyes in Game 3 of the Serie del Rey. Reyes, one of the most formidable starting pitchers in Mexico, scattered four hits and a walk over five scoreless innings for the Toros de Tijuana, and four relievers combined to thrown four perfect innings to finish off a 2-0 shutout and give Tijuana a 2-1 series lead.

Reyes outdueled Tabasco's Ronnie Williams, a candidate for the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol's Pitcher of the Year Award. Williams threw six innings, allowing one run on four hits and three walks, striking out nine.

Tijuana got the only run it would need in the second when Tomas Telis doubled to left center and scored Phillip Evans.

Meanwhile, Reyes allowed a single in each of the first three innings, but Tabasco was never able to get a runner past first. Reyes retired the side in order in the fourth, and allowed a two-out single to Jasson Atondo in the bottom of the fifth and then a walk to Carlos Arellano that gave the Olmecas a runner in scoring position.

But the king stayed on the mound and struck out Randy Romero swinging with just four pitches, ending the rally and the only real chance Tabasco had to score in Game 3.

From there, Adbert Alzolay retired the side in the sixth, fanning two batters, Jonathan Aro struck out one in a perfect seventh, Roel Ramirez struck out two and retired the side in order in the eighth, and Brett de Geus struck out two in the ninth to earn his fifth save of the postseason.

A solo homer by 17-year MLB veteran Justin Turner gave the Toros some insurance in the top of the ninth, though they'd never have to file a claim.

The Toros lead the series 2-1 with Game 3 scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m. EDT tonight at Parque Centenario 27 de Febrero in Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico. Noah Skirrow will start for Tijuana against Daniel Camarena for Tabasco.
