On Monday night, Korean pitcher Woo-suk Go will be flying to Seoul to return to the LG Twins, according to an LG Twins official per report by Jee-ho Yoo of Yonhap News. Go was designated for assignment Friday by the Minnesota Twins. He went unclaimed on waivers and elected free agency over the weekend.

Go originally signed with the San Diego Padres but never appeared with the MLB club. Four months later, he was traded to Miami in a deal that sent Luis Arráez to the Padres. After making 46 appearances over just more than a year with Miami, Go was released by the Marlins in June 2025.

He signed with the Detroit Tigers and made 20 appearances between High-A and Triple-A. He became a free agent and re-signed with the Tigers on a minor league deal. After posting a 2.60 ERA with 32 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings at Triple-A, Go was traded to the Minnesota Twins on July 5. He was added to the 40-man roster and finally promoted to the MLB roster.

After allowing four runs in four innings across four appearances, Go was demoted to Triple-A St. Paul. Before he even threw a pitch, he was ejected before his debut with St. Paul after a foreign substance was found in his glove.

His suspension was reduced to eight games, but he struggled after returning. He posted a 12.54 ERA in Triple-A and walked 11 batters in 9 1/3 innings before being designated for assignment.

Now, Go will return to the team he started with in the KBO. He made his debut with the LG Twins in 2017 and became the team’s closer in 2019. From 2019 to 2023, Go led the KBO with 139 saves. He made 354 appearances with the LG Twins, posting a 3.18 ERA with 401 strikeouts in 368 1/3 innings.

His peak came in 2022, when he posted a 1.48 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 60 2/3 innings and recorded 42 saves.

Go will step into a high-leverage bullpen role immediately for a Twins squad that has been ravaged by injuries this season. Most notable among those injuries is Young-chan You, the pitcher who took over as closer after Go left ahead of the 2024 season. You is out for the season after undergoing elbow surgery.

The Twins’ bullpen has been middle of the pack this season, and Go should provide a significant boost as they close out the regular season. However, because of KBO rules, he will be unable to pitch in the postseason after signing after the July 31 deadline.
