Sam Antonacci doubled to open the game and scored on a Kyle Teel single. Andrew Benintendi drove in two more on a single that Lucas Spence misplayed in center. Tristan Peters singled home a fourth. Hunter Brown was pulled with two outs in the first after a wild pitch and a walk.

The loss was Houston's eighth straight at home in the postseason, dating to Game 1 of the 2023 Division Series.
Chicago is trying for its first playoff series win since the 2005 World Series, which it swept from Houston in the same ballpark. A win also sends the White Sox to the Division Series for the first time since 2021.
Visiting teams that win Game 1 have taken 12 of 15 wild card series, including nine sweeps. The exception came last year when the Yankees lost the opener at home to Boston and came back.
Houston used eight relievers in Game 1, and four may be unavailable on workload. Josh Hader, Bryan Abreu and Bennett Sousa each threw fewer than 15 pitches. Left-hander Steven Okert is out for the series with a hamstring strain.
If Houston wins, Game 3 is Thursday at Daikin Park. The winner faces Cleveland, which earned a bye as the No. 2 seed.
In the earlier game, Philadelphia beat Atlanta 4-3 in 10 innings to force a Game 3. Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper hit back-to-back home runs in the eighth to tie it, and Alec Bohm homered in the 10th. Andrew Painter got the win and Didier Fuentes took the loss.
Two other elimination games follow Wednesday. New York leads Boston 1-0 and plays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. San Diego leads Chicago 1-0 and plays at 10 p.m. ET on Peacock and NBC Sports Network.
