The Virginia Tech Hokies will play the Georgia Southern Eagles to begin the 2027 college baseball season, according to the College Baseball Report on Instagram. The Hokies will travel to Statesboro to play the Eagles at their home ballpark, J.I. Clements Stadium.
The opening weekend of the college baseball season is scheduled for February 19-21, which is when Virginia Tech and Georgia Southern will face off.
A look at Georgia Southern and Virginia Tech during the 2026 season
In 2026, the Virginia Tech Hokies finished with a 20-26 overall record and a 15-15 record in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play.
After picking up a win against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the 2026 ACC Tournament, the Hokies made the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2022. They played in the Los Angeles regional. Virginia Tech lost both of the games they played at Jackie Robinson Stadium to Cal Poly and UCLA.
The Georgia Southern Eagles finished the 2026 college baseball season with a 16-40 overall record and a 7-23 record in Sun Belt play.
The Eagles finished in last place in the Sun Belt standings, and it was arguably the worst season they have had in program history.
Georgia Southern did play a few ACC teams this past season. The Eagles lost two midweek games against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. However, they defeated the Clemson Tigers in a midweek game on March 10.
Heading into 2027, Georgia Southern is looking to make it back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2022.
