The Women's Pro Baseball League is in full swing in its inaugural season.
Each of the league's four clubs (Boston Hunters, Los Angeles Queens, New York Heights, San Francisco Firebells) has played at least six games in the 15-game regular season before the playoffs.
Already, there have been a handful of standout performances. World Baseball Network has chosen the top performer at each position in the WPBL thus far.
Pitcher - Jill Albayati: The Firebells pitcher has two scoreless outings in her three appearances. Albayati has struck out 10 batters in 10 innings.
Catcher - Denae Benites: Benites has 18 hits and six home runs in 26 trips to the plate. If the WPBL hands out an MVP Award, she is a clear candidate with the Heights.
First Base - Andreanne Leblanc: Leblanc has three doubles, six RBIs, and four walks, with just one strikeout in 30 plate appearances.
Second Base - Amanda Gianelloni: Gianelloni's six RBIs are tied for seventh in the WPBL with four other players. Her four walks are tied for fourth.
Shortstop - Joely Leguizamon: Her nine RBIs are fourth in the WPBL and rank second on the Firebells. Leguizamon has previously represented the Dominican Republic's National Team.
Third Base - Ashton Lansdell: Lansdell's nine hits are the third most on the Queens. Her four walks lead the club.
Left Field - Natsuki Yonetani: The Heights outfielder is hitting .542 with four doubles through six games. She already has three assists in 11 total chances in left field.
Center Field - Molly Paddison: Leads all center fielders with seven hits. Paddison has reached base in half of her plate appearances.
Right Field - Skylar Kaplan: Kaplan has a 1.051 OPS and four doubles through six games with the Firebells. She went 4-for-4 with three RBI on Friday against the Queens.
MVP - Kelsie Whitmore: A two-way player with six home runs and a .478 batting average. Also pitches for the Savannah Bananas.
