Andrew Fischer is displaying major power as the No. 5 prospect in the Milwaukee Brewers system.

The first-round draft pick is having an offensive season for the record books.

Playing with Double-A Biloxi, Fischer, 22, hit his 45th and 46th home runs of the season on Saturday. Before his promotion in June, the University of Tennessee product homered 20 times in just 54 games at High-A Wisconsin.

Fischer's 46th homer of the year tied him with former Philadelphia Phillies MVP Ryan Howard (2004) for the most homers in a minor league season this century. That same year, Howard made his Major League debut and went on to hit 30 or more long balls in a season six times.

In yesterday's contest against Double-A Birmingham, the third baseman went 0-for-3 with two walks and a strikeout. Before then, he had homered eight times in his previous nine games.

Obviously, Fischer can hit the ball out of the yard with the best of them. He also leads Milwaukee's system with 111 RBIs, a .657 slugging percentage, 66 extra-base hits, and 101 runs scored.

Yet, his name does not appear on MLB Pipeline's top 100 prospect list. Strikeouts are a significant reason why. Fischer has struck out 179 times in 531 plate apperances between High-A and Double-A.

“It’s all about the K’s,” MLB Pipeline's Jonathan Mayo said about Fischer. “I know a certain amount of strikeouts is perfectly acceptable, especially in today’s game. His power is impressive, but with a strikeout rate over 33% in the Minors this year, I’m a little concerned about him getting to it once he’s facing big-league pitching.

If Fischer can cut down on his high strikeout rate, he could be a third base option for the Brewers as early as next season. Currently, Joey Ortiz and David Hamilton are the top two names on manager Pat Murphy's third-base depth chart.

The NL Central club ranks dead last in the Majors with 133 homers. Still, they are World Series contenders thanks to a strong pitching staff led by Cy Young Award favorite Jacob Misiorowski.

Fischer is not on Milwaukee's 40-man roster, which would allow him to develop his skills in the minors during the 2027 season if MLB has a lockout.

In addition to his impressive minor league work, Fischer suited up for Team Italy at the 2026 World Baseball Classic. He had five hits in 16 plate appearances, including a solo homer against Great Britain's Owen Wild.
