Estadio Monumental Simon Bolivar, the 42,000-seat ballpark in Caracas that opened in 2023, has been cleared to host games in the coming winter ball season.

The ballpark, which hosts the Liga Venezolana de Beisbol Profesional's Leones del Caracas, was inspected by the city's Infrastructure Habitability Evaluation Commission, according to a report from Venezuelan news outlet Meridiano.net.

Whether or not the ballpark could host games following the twin earthquakes, both registering higher than 7.0 on the Richter scale, that struck Venezuela on June 24 was an open question prior to the stadium's inspection and approval by the commission.

"The Monumental Stadium is in very good condition; it has a green sticker. There are some minor construction details that can be fixed later, but from a structural point of view, it's fine," Cristina Mejías, a civil engineer with the Presidential Commission for the Evaluation of Infrastructure Habitability, said in Meridiano.net's report.

Estadio Monumental Simon Bolivar is one of two stadiums in greater Caracas that regularly hosts LVBP games, along with Estadio Universitario, a 21,000-seat ballpark that opened in 1952.

The elder ballpark was the site of a game in the Liga Mayor de Beisbol Profesional, the country's professional summer league, that was being played when the earthquakes struck in June.
