After pitching in Puerto Rico last winter and making his Mexican debut with the Bravos de Leon in the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol this past summer, former Major Leaguer Robert Gsellman is headed to the Tomateros de Culiacan for the winter of 2026-27.
Gsellman, 33, last pitched in the Majors with the Chicago Cubs in 2022 before joining the Yokohama DeNA BayStars in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball. With the BayStars, Gsellman threw 85 innings in 17 appearances over two seasons, posting a 4.02 ERA with 55 strikeouts and 39 walks.
Moving to a relief role when he returned to the United States in 2024 with Triple-A Rochester in the Washington Nationals organization, Gsellman was used as a spot reliever with Rochester and Lake Country of the American Association before heading to Puerto Rico last winter.
With the Cangrejeros de Santurce in 2025-26, Gsellman threw 21 1/3 innings over 20 appearances, with a 2.53 ERA, 17 strikeouts, five walks, and a 0.938 WHIP. He made two appearances at the 2026 Caribbean Series in Guadalajara, allowing a run on three hits in 1 2/3 innings.
Rosscup Headed To Aguilas - Eight-year MLB veteran lefty Zac Rosscup is returning to the Liga Mexicana del Pacifico this winter with the Aguilas de Mexicali.
Rosscup, 38, split last winter between the Charros de Jalisco and Venados de Mazatlan, throwing 26 total innings, posting a 6.23 ERA, striking out 18 and walking 22.
In 60 1/3 career innings in winter ball in the LMP and LIDOM, Rosscup has a career ERA of 4.92 with 50 strikeouts, 38 walks, and a 1.475 WHIP.
