How about one more year?

Executives from the Diablos Rojos del Mexico are traveling to the Dominican Republic to meet with 18-year Major League Baseball veteran Robinson Cano in hopes of persuading him to play a fourth season for Mexico City's team in the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol.

Speaking at a press conference, Diablos vice president Santiago Harp said they hope to bring Cano back for another year in summer baseball in 2027.

In 2024, his first season with the Diablos, Cano won the LMB batting title, slashing .431/.475/.639 with 141 hits in 321 at-bats and 14 homers in 78 game as the Diablos won their first Serie del Rey championship in a decade. He returned in 2025, batting .372/.426/.573 with 14 homers and 86 RBIs. This year, in his age 43 season, Cano hit .291/.343/.483 with 15 homers and 72 RBIs in 86 games.

Should Cano return, it would be his 24th summer baseball season since first playing for the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Yankees and the Short Season-A Staten Island Yankees in 2001. He missed the 2021 season while serving a full-season suspension after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs and did not play in 2023.

Cano won two championships with the Diablos Rojos, who won the Serie del Rey in 2024 and 2025.
