The Dominican Republic's professional winter league, LIDOM, and that league's players' union, FENAPEPRO, have reached an agreement to extend the collective bargaining agreement between the league and the union through the end of the 2026-27 season.

The extension is temporary and will expire following the 2026-27 season, which will begin on Friday, and will run through Feb. 15, 2027, with the league and the players having until March 15, 2027, to negotiate in good faith, according to a release from the league announcing the extension.

The extension includes agreed-upon measures from the ongoing negotiations regarding the signing of LIDOM players by foreign leagues, as well as joint participation in international events.

According to El Nuevo Diario's David Alcantara, the agreement includes approval for an All-Star Game between LIDOM and the LBPRC, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, as well as a pair of regular season games at Miami's loanDepot Park between the Tigres del Licey and Aguilas Cibaenas in December. Each team would have a home game moved to Miami.

For players currently under contract in LIDOM, free agency would begin on Feb. 15, and players would be able to sign with any of the league's six teams if they had not reached an agreement with their current team.

The LIDOM season begins on Friday night with a full slate of games.
