On Monday, August 17, the Arkansas Razorbacks signed head coach Dave Van Horn to a contract extension that lasts through the 2031 season.

According to a press release from Arkansas Athletics, the new deal replaces the previous ten-year extension Van Horn signed in 2021.

The legendary head coach will also receive a pay increase. Van Horn will now make $2.1 million per year. There are incentives included in the extension for fulfilling the length of the contract and winning a national championship.

The new amount Van Horn makes now makes him the fifth-highest paid coach in the country. He now makes the same amount as Florida State's Link Jarrett. The only coaches who now make more than Van Horn are LSU's Jay Johnson, Mississippi State's Brian O'Connor, Vanderbilt's Tim Corbin, and Texas' Jim Schlossnagle.

Van Horn and his coaching career

Van Horn just wrapped up his 24th season as the head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks. He has won 974 games with the Razorbacks during that stretch of 24 seasons.

With 1,345 total wins as a head coach, Van Horn is college baseball's active wins leader.

Van Horn has led Arkansas to three Southeastern Conference (SEC) regular-season titles and won the 2021 SEC Tournament with the Razorbacks as well.

He is also responsible for leading Arkansas to the College World Series eight times. Most recently, he led Arkansas to the College World Series in 2025.

The Razorbacks have pretty much been a shoo-in to make the NCAA Tournament with Van Horn at the helm. Arkansas has made the NCAA Tournament in every season he has been the head coach except 2016.

Arkansas season results in 2026

In 2026, the Arkansas Razorbacks finished with a 41-22 overall record and a 17-13 record in SEC play.

The Razorbacks made the NCAA Tournament for the ninth straight season and played in the Lawrence regional.
