Louisville, Ky. - The Miami (Ohio) RedHawks played two exhibition games against the Louisville Cardinals at Jim Patterson Stadium on Sunday, September 27.

A couple of RedHawks hitters stood out during Sunday's action against the Cardinals.

Dominican Republic native Christopher Roa Calcano has a huge day for Miami (Ohio)

Christopher Roa Calcano was arguably the best player on the field for the RedHawks during their two wins over Louisville.

The Dominican Republic native hit a home run in the first game against the Cardinals that resulted in a 2-0 win.

In the second game of the day, Roa had an infield knock and then proceeded to steal second base. Roa later went all the way around the bases and scored a run, it was the RedHawks' first run of the game.

The junior also drew a handful of walks during Sunday's exhibition action against Louisville.

In 97 career at-bats during two seasons with Miami (Ohio), Roa has a .309 batting average with a .407 on-base percentage. He also has eight doubles, 22 RBIs, and 21 runs scored in his career.

Mason Breidenbach comes through with multiple huge hits

In the second game of the exhibition contest against Louisville, redshirt-senior Mason Breidenbach had a bases-clearing double that gave the RedHawks a 4-1 lead. Later on in the game, he also had a two-run triple that gave Miami (Ohio) the lead back once again.

Breidenbach also knocked in Roa earlier in the second contest on a fielder's choice play that got Miami (Ohio) on the scoreboard.

In 2026, Breidenbach played in just 26 games for Miami (Ohio) and managed to get 13 hits and 14 RBIs. The outfielder had a solid on-base percentage of .397 last season.

Back-to-Back conference championship seasons

The Miami (Ohio) RedHawks have found lots of success during the past two seasons under fourth-year head coach Brian Smiley.

The RedHawks are the back-to-back reigning Mid-American Conference (MAC) regular season champions. In 2025, Miami (Ohio) made thier first NCAA Tournament appearance in 20 years.

Despite not making the NCAA Tournament again in 2026, Miami (Ohio) did finish with a solid overall record of 38-17 with a 25-8 record in MAC play.
