The Baylor Bears and UIC Flames will play each other to begin the 2027 college baseball season.

The two teams will play a four-game series at Baylor Ballpark in Waco, Texas from February 19 through February 22.

Four days after the series against UIC ends, Baylor will head to Arlington to play in the 2027 Amegy Bank College Baseball Series at Globe Life Field. The Bears will play three games in that event from February 26 through February 28.

A look at Baylor and UIC in 2026

In 2026, the Baylor Bears finished with a 29-27 overall record and a 14-16 record in Big 12 play. They finished in eighth place in the Big 12 standings.

The Bears picked up one win in the 2026 Big 12 Tournament against the BYU Cougars. An extra-innings loss to the Kansas Jayhawks in the next round ended their season.

Baylor went 15-11 in non-conference play and 19-10 at home in Waco last season. Based on this, they should fare well against the UIC Flames to begin the 2027 season.

However, UIC may be a tough challenge for the Bears. The Flames are coming off a great 2026 season.

Despite a 27-29-1 overall record, UIC had a solid 16-8 record in Missouri Valley Conference play. This led to the Flames winning the 2026 Missouri Valley Conference regular-season title. UIC would also go on to win the 2026 Missouri Valley Tournament. It was the first MVC regular-season and tournament titles in program history.

The Flames made the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019. They played in the Atlanta regional at Russ Chandler Stadium. UIC lost both games they played in the NCAA Tournament against Georgia Tech and The Citadel.
