The Australian Baseball League is stepping onto a larger global stage, with ABL games set to reach MLB.TV subscribers around the world.

Beginning with the 2026-27 season, fans with an existing MLB.TV subscription will be able to access ABL content available through Baseball+, giving the Australian professional league a new platform to showcase its clubs, players and competition to a worldwide audience.

MLB.TV Partnership Expands ABL Reach

The partnership strengthens the ABL’s connection to the global baseball community while giving fans greater access to Australian professional baseball through MLB’s streaming platforms.

For ABL fans who do not have an MLB.TV subscription, Baseball+ packages will also be available, with subscriptions starting at $24.99 per month.

The Free Game of the Week will remain available to fans who register for Baseball+, providing another way to follow the league throughout the season.

The ABL season is scheduled to begin Nov. 19, with single-game tickets already on sale.

The partnership supports MLB’s broader effort to grow the game internationally while strengthening its connection to Australia’s talent pipeline, which has produced a number of Major League players. The expanded broadcast reach also gives professional clubs across Oceania greater exposure to a large, established global baseball audience.

Four-Team League Set for 2026-27 Season

The 2026-27 season will feature a temporary four-team league as the ABL works toward a planned expansion back to six teams for the 2027-28 season.

The four clubs competing in the 2026-27 season will be the Adelaide Giants, Brisbane Bandits, Perth Heat and Sydney Blue Sox.

Each club will play 39 regular-season games across 10 rounds, creating a compact schedule with plenty of competition throughout the season.

Perth Heat

The Perth Heat will bring back longtime catcher Alex Hall and right-hander Kieren Hall. Alex Hall returns for his 10th season with Perth after winning the 2023 Helms Award and representing Australia at the 2023 and 2026 World Baseball Classics. Kieren Hall enters his fourth season with the club after recording 47 career strikeouts and three saves.

Sydney Blue Sox

The Sydney Blue Sox have re-signed infielder Jo Stevens and outfielder Jaylin Rae. Stevens stole seven bases without being caught last season, while Rae returns after a two-home-run, four-RBI performance against Adelaide last season.

Brisbane Bandits

The Brisbane Bandits have added Team Australia catcher Robbie Perkins and former Australian U23 representative Jackson Grounds. Perkins hit .311 with 10 home runs and 28 RBIs in 37 games last season, while Grounds returns to Brisbane with previous ABL experience.

Adelaide Giants

The Adelaide Giants have re-signed Cooper Morgan, the reigning ABL Reliever of the Year, to strengthen their bullpen after a key role in the club’s championship run. Veteran infielder Nick Ward also returns after batting .350 last season, bringing experience and stability to the Giants’ lineup.

With Australian baseball games moving to MLB.TV and a new four-team structure in place, the ABL enters the 2026-27 season with an opportunity to reach a broader international audience. As the league prepares to return to six teams in 2027-28, the upcoming season marks another step in expanding the visibility and reach of professional baseball in Australia.
