Caden Bodine has developed nicely in Minor League Baseball (MiLB). He is quickly rising through the Tampa Bay Rays farm system.

According to MLB Pipeline, Bodine is the third-best prospect in the Rays farm system. The only two prospects who are ranked higher are Theo Gillen and Grady Emerson, who was the number two overall pick in the 2026 MLB Draft.

Here is a look at Bodine's great 2026 season, which showcases his great development.

From Coastal Carolina and the College World Series to Baltimore

After a great college career with the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, Bodine was drafted 30th overall by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2025 MLB Draft.

He went on to have 43 at-bats during the 2025 season for the Delmarva Shorebirds, the Orioles' Single-A affiliate. In those 43 at-bats, he had 14 hits and four RBIs. Bodine also had a .408 on-base percentage.

It was a small sample size, but it was also an encouraging sign of what he could do.

Bodine and his 2026 MiLB season

In December 2025, Bodine was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays. He was involved in a big trade that included the Rays sending 27-year-old starting pitcher Shane Baz to Baltimore.

The move ended up being a great move for Bodine. He would go on to progress mightily in the Tampa Bay farm system during the 2026 Minor League Baseball season.

He started the season playing for the Tampa Bay Single-A affiliate, the Charleston RiverDogs. In 132 at-bats with the RiverDogs, Bodine had a .379 batting average with 12 doubles, five home runs, and 27 RBIs.

He spent 33 games in Charleston before being assigned to the High-A level with the Bowling Green Hot Rods.

Bodine put up numbers in Bowling Green similar to those in Charleston. With the Hot Rods, he had a .341 batting average with four home runs and 30 RBIs. In both Charleston and Bowling Green, Bodine had an on-base percentage north of .400.

After 32 games in High-A, Bodine was assigned to the Montgomery Biscuits, the Rays' Double-A affiliate. With more at-bats in Double-A than Single-A and High-A, he saw an increase in his RBI (33) and walk (20) numbers.

Bodine also had a .316 batting average and five home runs with Montgomery.

After 37 games, Bodine was then assigned to the Durham Bulls, the Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. This move happened recently, on August 25.

Bodine hit his first home run at the Triple-A level on August 28. In that game against the Norfolk Tides, Bodine had two home runs, hitting one from each side of the plate. He has six total hits in 12 total at-bats with Durham.

Major League Baseball soon?

Bodine has been one of the best development stories in Minor League Baseball this season. If he continues, the Rays may call him up to the Major League level sooner rather than later.
